YouTube, Instagram and TikTok influencer, Australian Tammy Hembrow shocked her followers on Sunday by making her pregnant belly disappear in a candid video.

How could this be possible? Was this a video or camera trick? Was her unborn baby okay? Her fans wondered.

According to the DailyMail UK, "In the clip, Tammy stood side-on to the camera with her baby bump on full display, which she caressed softly with her right hand."

Then, as the background song reached the lyrics that says "Poof, be gone", Tammy pulls her stomach and makes her pregnant belly disappear. 

She then bursts into a laugh and ends the clip that was viewed 12 million times.

The reports that "Tammy, who is expecting a girl, took to the comments to reassure fans the baby was “fine”.

“It’s actually recommended bracing ur [sic] core like this throughout pregnancy, especially since I train a lot. Bubby is just fine,” she wrote.

The Bharat Express News writes that "The 27-year-old, 24 weeks pregnant with her third child, posed in leather-look pants and a crop top in the footage titled “When You’re Pregnant.”

However, the fact is, irrespective of how fit you are, it's best to consult your doctor before even taking your first step into bracing your core as Tammy Hembrow suggests. 

She may have received approval from experts she's been consulting during her previous two pregnancies.

You may still ask: "Is it okay to do core exercises during pregnancy?"

Baby Center, the world's number one digital parenting resource that's quoted by the publications to explain Tammy Hembrow's action, has dedicated an article on it titled "Why and how to strengthen your core for pregnancy".

In this, Baby Center focuses most of the content on strengthening your belly and back before getting pregnant.

However, it quotes and advice from Registered Nurse Julie Tupler, also co-author of Lose Your Mummy Tummy (Da Capo Press, 2004) that discusses toning your transversus abdominus, whether you're pregnant or not.

Transversus abdominus is made up of your deep abdominal muscles also referred to as core.

Tupler is an expert in Diastasis Recti Treatment with the Tupler Technique. 

Her advice emphasizes "drawing in your belly button in toward the spine and holding it there while doing muscle strengthening exercises."

As per Healthline, the bottom line is "it’s safe to continue exercising if your pregnancy is normal."

hold your breath during any activity, attempt skiing or horse riding as they involve risk of falling; contact sports including football and basketball as well as softball, volleyball that involve jumping; any exercise that's likely to cause abdominal trauma; Hopping, skipping, bouncing and deep knee bends, lying on your back for more than three minutes, exercise in hot and humid weather.
