“It might be a signal of accelerated ageing,” says Dr. Yue Leng, an assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of California San Francisco in a quote to The Guardian.

The Harvard Gazette quotes Peng Li of the Medical Biodynamics Program in the Brigham’s Division of Sleep and Circadian Disorders saying “Our results not only suggest that excessive daytime napping may signal an elevated risk of Alzheimer’s dementia, but they also show that faster yearly increase in daytime napping may be a sign of deteriorating or unfavored clinical progression of the disease."

The methods in the newer research were done using data from 1401 participants of the Rush Memory and Aging Project.
