Tesla, Musk On Track To Honor PepsiCo's Semitrailer Order


PepsiCo will be the first to drive Tesla's all-electric, zero-emission Semi Truck to market starting December 1.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted this update late Thursday.
Production of the 500-mile on a single charge (805km) Semitrailer was delayed after Pepsico had ordered 100 of them in 2017.

Tesla first unveiled the vehicle in November 2017, saying production will begin by 2019.

Among the reasons for multiple timeline delays was part shortages.


The truck's price starts at US$180,000 and qualifies for a tax break of up to $40,000 from a U.S. Senate-approved subsidy program.

President Joe Biden had, in August, signed into law legislation that offered a tax credit for commercial electric vehicles, apart from other incentives.

Companies, other than PepsiCo, who have made reservations for the truck include Anheuser-Busch, Walmart and UPS.

Pepsico, the manufacturer of Mountain Dew soda and Doritos chips plans on using the Class 8 trucks to ship snack foods and beverages

Who Consumes More Media? Gen Z Or Millennials?


Gen Z, anyone born between 1997 to 2012 (or commonly between 13 and 25), is the most online generation, says an analysis by the World Advertising Research Center.

Warc, which calls itself the global authority on advertising and media effectiveness, released a Global Ad Trends data that shows Gen Z spends 67.7% of their total media time with digital channels. 

However, this data says Gen Z, colloquially known as zoomers, lags behind Millennials (born between 1981 and 1996 or aged 23 to 38 in 2019) in total consumption terms.

Globally, the 13-25s have consumed less media per day than the Millennials. 

This gap is getting bigger as Millennials consume larger amounts of both linear and online streaming TV.

AdNews says Gen Z's online media consumption is owing to the creation of new opportunities such as music and podcast streaming and not due to any digital innovation supplanting offline channels.

Newer platforms like TikTok and BeReal though have gained while other platforms battle for Gen Z's attention.

Warc's head of content, Alex Brownsell says age is not the only consideration in ascertaining consumer behavior. Factors such as geography and affluence too can play a decisive role.
